Week 1: Giants… For the second year in a row the Cowboys will open against the Giants in prime time. Only this season the game will be at Cowboys Stadium where Eli Manning has never lost to the Cowboys. Strangely enough the last time the Cowboys opened the season at home was back in 2007 and was also against the Giants on Sunday night, which was Tony Romo’s first ever season opener as a starter. That game was played at Texas Stadium and the Cowboys won 45-35.
Week 2: at Chiefs…The Cowboys travel to Kansas City for the first time since 2009 when they beat the Chiefs in overtime 26-20. It was also Miles Austin’s breakout game for the Cowboys as he caught 10 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns, which included the game winner in overtime.
Week 3: Rams…The last time the Rams came to Cowboys Stadium was back in 2011 when a certain rookie running back named DeMarco Murray started the game with a 91 yard touchdown run and ended the game with 253 yards rushing. The Cowboys went on to win 34-7.
Week 4: at Chargers…The last time the Cowboys played a regular season game in San Diego was back in 2005 to open the season. Back then players like Drew Bledsoe, KeyShawn Johnson and La’Roi Glover were leading the Cowboys as they went on to win 28-24.
Week 5: Broncos…This will be Peyton Manning’s first game in Cowboys Stadium. His only other game in Dallas came back in 2006 when the Colts came to Texas Stadium with a 9-0 record. The Cowboys won the game 21-14 with two fourth quarter touchdown runs by Marion Barber.
Week 6: Redskins…The question is will RGIII be back from his knee injury for this prime time game in Dallas. The Cowboys were swept by the Redskins in 2012 for the first time since 2005.
Week 7: at Eagles…The Cowboys are coming off a sweep of the Eagles in 2012. Things are different in Philadelphia now with long time head coach Andy Reid gone. It also remains to be seen if Michael Vick will be the Eagles starter.
Week 8: at Lions…The last time the Cowboys and Lions played in 2011, the Cowboys had a 27-3 third quarter lead and ended up losing the game 34-30. That game was in Dallas. This season the Cowboys travel to Detroit where they last played in 2007. The Cowboys were losing 27-14 late in the fourth quarter and then put together an impressive comeback and beat the Lions 28-27 to improve to 12-1.
Week 9: Vikings…The last time the Vikings played in Dallas was 2007 when Adrian Peterson was a rookie. The Cowboys held him to 63 yards rushing and won the game 24-14.
Week 10: at Saints…The last time the Cowboys played in New Orleans was in 2009 when the Saints were 13-0. The Cowboys handed the Saints their first loss of the season as they won the game 24-17. DeMarcus Ware sealed the game with a late sack of Drew Brees forcing him to fumble and recovered by Jay Ratliff.
Week 11: Bye Week
Week 12: at Giants…The Cowboys will finish with their division rival before December rolls around. The question is will this be the Cowboys only trip to MetLife Stadium in 2013? Or will they be returning in February for a little game called the Super Bowl?
Week 13: Raiders…The Cowboys welcome the Raiders into Cowboys Stadium for Thanksgiving. Funny thing is that the last time the Cowboys and Raiders played it was also on Thanksgiving back in 2009 when the Cowboys won 24-7.
Week 14: at Bears…Brrrr!!!!! There is a good chance it will be a cold night in Chicago for Monday Night Football. The last time the Cowboys played in Chicago was 2007, which was also a prime time game on Sunday night. The Cowboys gave the Bears a 34-10 beating in that game.
Week 15: Packers…The last time the Packers came to Dallas was back in 2007 when their quarterback was Brett Favre. The Cowboys dominated early and intercepted Favre twice before he left the game early in the second quarter with an injury and the Cowboys leading 27-10. A player named Aaron Rodgers came off the bench and almost pulled off a comeback win for the Packers, but the Cowboys held on for a 37-27 win.
Week 16: at Redskins…Almost a year later the Cowboys return to FedEx Field where they not only lost to the Redskins, but also lost the NFC East title. Could this end up being another important late season division game for these two teams?
Week 17: Eagles…The last time the Cowboys finished the season against the Eagles in Dallas was back in 2009. The Cowboys beat Donovan McNabb and the Eagles 24-0 to win the NFC East. Both teams would meet again one week later in the Wildcard round of the playoffs. Again, played in Dallas and again won by the Cowboys 34-14.
